On April 7-9, 2021, the program hosted a three-day virtual Trial Advocacy Train the Trainer Workshop in collaboration with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA). 25 prosecutors from The Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago participated in the exercise, along with 18 law students from the Eugene Dupuch Law School in The Bahamas. This workshop is part of ongoing efforts to institutionalize Trial Advocacy training programs in all DPP offices throughout the region by developing the training skills of a cadre of senior prosecutors. Law students assumed the role of attorneys performing trial advocacy exercises while workshop participants acted as faculty, critiquing their demonstrations. The workshop was led by a team of five NITA faculty of distinguished legal professionals including judge, prosecutor, and attorneys with extensive experience teaching trial advocacy in Caribbean, US & UK.
