On April 12, 2021, the program launched a Trial Advocacy Manual for prosecutors, police prosecutors and attorneys. The manual was drafted by NCSC’s pro bono partner, the DLA Piper Law Firm and is a follow-on initiative to a series of trial advocacy workshops conducted from 2017-2019, for regional police prosecutors. The firm’s lawyers conducted the training, associated with the roll-out of the manual, which highlighted its contents and key trial advocacy skills for the prosecutors with the Barbados Office of the Director of Public Prosecution. Similar training programs on the manual will take place over the next few months for regional police prosecutors and DPP offices. The trial advocacy manual is the first in the region and will be made available to prosecutors, police prosecutors and attorneys.
